Vegans Use CBD Oil For Healthier Bones

Being a vegan has many health benefits. Vegans are, on average, thinner, have lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and a reduced risk of heart disease. But there are some downsides to a vegan diet which need to be addressed in order to live a long, healthy, productive life. CBD oil may be a big help for vegans seeking to protect bone health in particular.

According to a study entitled, Health Effects of Vegan Diets,” Vegans are often deficient in:

  • Calcium
  • Vitamin B-12
  • Vitamin D
  • Omega-3 fatty acids

According to the report, low calcium “is associated with bone loss and fractures at the hip and spine in the elderly.” And, as many with elderly loved ones know, a broken hip—or any broken bone for that matter—can result in immobility. The lack of exercise that comes with immobility causes bones to weaken further, causing a downward spiral into potential disability.

The author goes on to say, “Unless vegans regularly consume foods that are fortified with these nutrients, appropriate supplements should be consumed. In some cases, iron and zinc status of vegans may also be of concern because of the limited bioavailability of these minerals… The higher risk of bone fracture seen in vegans appears to be a consequence of a lower mean calcium intake.”

The study also showed that dietary supplementation with CBD leads to faster healing of broken bones.
